Category: accessible Devices
Hi everyone. Have any of y'all heard of or used a program called Mobile Accessibility? I think it's like MobileSpeaks but I'm guessing there has to be some difference since they are two separate things. Anyways, I just learned about it when ending up on www.codefactory.es/products.htm. Apparently, Mobile Accessibility is supposed to be easier to use I think. But yeah, if you've used it or know of someone who has, what do you or they think of it? I think this could be listed as another option along with Talks, the LG phones, MobileSpeaks, and the Oasis phone.
Mobile zccessibillity was Code factory's first attempt at a screenreader or speech interface for the cell phone. I don't believe it has kept up with developement and am surprised it is still around. What you really want to wait for is when they come out with the smartphone addition of mobile speak pocket. I use a Del x51V running MSP and it's quite a program. The dell is a pda and I can access all of the applications. Sitting outside in the nice weather checking e-mail and doing my client paper work on the Internet is quite nice. If you are considering a product to make a cell phone talk I would go with either talks for the simbian series 60/80 phones or wait for MSP to come up with there smart phone addition. Now, if you are interested in a phone/PDA combo MSP pocket will work with that and there are some nice offerings available. The HTC products are quite nice. I would suggest going with a PPC phone running Windows Mobile 5 and not 2003 or 200 SE.
Thanks for the information. And I've been hearing about "smart phones" while I was checking out about accessible phones, but what is a smart phone? I don't get it.
Good evening Bell. First I must correct my last post, I meant windows 2003 se. Man! I really should actually read what I write.... A smart phone is a phone running windows mobile. IT's the same idea as running simbian on a nokia but a different operating system. These phones and access e-mail, I believe surf the net and do some other things. They are not full functioning PDA'S but very full featured phones. With a PPC phone you would also have pocket word, pocket excell pocket internet explorer, and some of the other apps you know and love.
Cool. Thanks for the info. *smiles*
